I recently had the opportunity to work once again with one of my first clients, the talented Rachelle Chamberlain of Domestic Lin. Her small scale hand weaving studio, based here in Victoria, BC, is inspired by the rich heritage and unique qualities of linen. The studio makes use of flax grown and spun in Western Europe.
Though I’m rarely satisfied with past work, below is a (slightly re-edited) shot from perhaps my first commercial shoot.

This past spring, Rachelle had me photograph some new designs.

In addition to other projects in the works, Domestic Lin currently has scarves available for sale at Citizen Clothing, located in Victoria’s Estevan Village. It was a pleasure to work with Rachelle again last month. She even bought me coffee and a vegan cupcake after the shoot.

Rachelle gave me a demo once of her loom at work. To see and to feel the texture of the cloth in my hand and to know how much care and effort went into the end result brings about a whole new appreciation for such goods.
